Cops break down door searching for abducted woman in Hoofddorp; Woman killed in Zaandam

The police used a battering ram to break down the front door of a home in Hoofddorp, searching for a 49-year-old woman who they believe was kidnapped on Wednesday. It is unclear whether they found anything. In the nearby Zaandam, a woman died of injuries after “an incident” in a home. The police are looking for a man wearing distinctive red pants.

The Hoofddorp home is located on Oosterschelde, a side street of Mosselplaat, where the missing woman was last seen on Wednesday. She got into her black BMW at around 8:30 a.m. to drive to work in Beverwijk, but never arrived. There’s been no sign of her or her car since.

The police fear for the woman’s life, spokesperson Roderick de Veen told NH Nieuws. “Our scenario is: this woman has been kidnapped and we need to find her as soon as possible,” the police spokesperson said. “We seriously consider her life to be in danger.”

In Zaandam, the police responded to a home on Pinasstraat at around 9:28 a.m. and found a grievously injured woman inside. First responders tried to resuscitate her, but it was to no avail. She died at the scene.

The police have not said anything about what happened, only speaking of “an incident.” The police are considering all scenarios and have not ruled out foul play. “Much is still unclear,” a police spokesperson said to NU.nl.

Investigators spread the description of a man wearing distinctive red pants who may have been involved in the incident. According to the police, he has an Arabic appearance and dark, shoulder-length hair. In addition to red pants, he wore a black parka jacket with a hood and black shoes with white accents. He may have left on a granny bike. The police urged people not to approach the man themselves, but to call the police if they see him.

The incident in Zaandam and the home searched in Hoofddorp are around 35 kilometers apart. So far, the police have given no indication that the incidents are linked.
