Four arrested in major Northern Netherlands drug investigation
The police are raiding various addresses in Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe on Monday as part of a major investigation into money laundering and drug trafficking in the north of the country. So far four suspects were arrested, Telegraaf reports.
"Currently eleven buildings, both homes and businesses, are being raided", a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. According to him, this criminal group was active in the northern parts of the Netherlands for several years.
The arrested suspects are two men from Drachten, age 45 and 54 years old, and a 50 year old woman and 48 year old man from Assen.
During the raids the police so far found and confiscated cannabis and large amounts in cash. Three large cannabis plantations were also dismantled. The police will release concrete figures later in the day.
