Fmr. KLM CEO pressing defamation charges against ex-girlfriend
Camiel Eurlings is pressing charges against his ex-girlfriend who accused him of abusing her. The former KLM CEO is accusing her of attempted blackmail or extortion and defamation, according to a statement by his lawyer which Dutch newspaper AD has in its possession.
"Mr Eurlings took note of the charge made against him of an alleged incident that supposedly occurred four and a half months prior to the making of this charge.", lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops writes in the statement, adding that the charge is based on "factual inaccuracies" and that Eurlings disputed the claims. "In connection with the charge made against him, he himself pressed a charge against the complainant on the occasion of his interrogation by the police."
According to the lawyer, the former CDA minister does not want to take the matter any further in the media and will not make an further comments.
In February it was revealed that 33-year-old Tesa Rolink pressed charges of aggravated assault against Eurlings in December. According to her, Eurlings severely assaulted her in July 2015, leaving her with a concussion, a broken elbow, torn earlobes and bruises.
Confidential documents in the hands of the Telegraaf show that Eurlings confessed to becoming violent during an argument with Rolink, but denies assaulting her, the newspaper reports.
Eurlings will soon be leaving for Rio de Janeiro, where he will attend the Olympic Games as Dutch member of the International Olympic Committee.
