Facebook blackmailer extorted missing teen girl’s family
A 26 year old man from Deurne was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning on suspicion that he extorted the family of a missing girl. The family lives across the street from him, AD reports.
Fifteen year old Marisk Profijt went missing two weeks ago. She was last seen in Deurne on January 4th. According to her mother, Martiene Kellenaers, the arrested man broke into Mariska's Facebook profile and posted photos that suggested the missing girl ended up in prostitution. He tried to blackmail the family with the photos, but they went to the police. "Every day we are working on getting our daughter back. Two weeks ago she left the institution where she was staying temporarily. Since them we have heard nothing more from her. We are very worried", Kellenaers said to the newspaper, adding that the extortion is completely unrelated to her daughter going missing. "The craziest rumors are going about, but these two things have nothing to do with each other." The suspect was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, one of which conditionally suspended, for similar offences in September. He appealed and is living at home with his parents while the appeal is ongoing.
