Man missing since New Year’s found dead, hidden in garden; two arrested
The police found the body of missing Jesse van Wieren in the garden of a home on Hoofdstraat in Kloosterburen on Wednesday. The 28 year old Groningen man went missing early on New Year's morning after leaving a bar near the garden where his body was found. Two people were arrested, a 25 year old man and a 27 year old woman, both from Kloosterburen. On Monday the police received "important information" about Jesse, which lead them to launch an extensive forensic investigation in and around the home on Hoofdstraat, the 25 year old suspect's home, on Tuesday. They found the body in the garden. The body was positively identified as Jesse on Wednesday night.
The Netherlands Forensic Institute will perform an autopsy on Jesse's body to get more clarity on the cause of his death. Both suspects are in custody for questioning. The police are investigating their involvement in his death. A large-scale investigation team consisting of 25 detectives is on the case. The residents of Kloosterburen were informed about the events on Wednesday night. The Groningen village is filled with dismay about the young man's death, RTL Nieuws reports. Jesse's Facebook page is already filled with condolences and many of his Facebook friends changed their profile pictures to just a black background to show their grief. "Why? What kind of world do we live in?" one friend wrote on Jesse's Facebook page, with another adding "I just can't believe it". One colleague wrote: "Jesse, I got to know you as a giant spontaneous, honest someone who you can count on. Someone who says it like it is. I'm really going to miss you colleague."
