One hurt in three separate police shootings

The police fired shots in three separate incidents in Rotterdam-Zuid, Vlaardingen and Zeist during the early hours of Monday morning. One suspect was injured in the leg and taken to the hospital. The shooting that resulted in a suspect being hospitalized with an injury to his leg happened in Rotterdam-Zuid. The police received a report of a robbery on Bloemenlaan, the police reported on Twitter. When they arrived at the scene they saw a man running away on Vinkenbaan, around the corner from the reported robbery. The man pulled a gun on the officers when they tried to arrest him and the officers fired at him. He was taken to the hospital and arrested. Another suspect was also arrested. The Rijksrecherche, the department that handles internal police investigations, is investigating the shooting.

The police also fired shots in Vlaardingen shortly after the incident in Rotterdam. This happened after a brawl between dozens of young people on Floris de Vijfdelaan, according to the Telegraaf. Officers saw a car chasing away carrying a woman seemingly against her will. Patrolling officers intercepted the vehicle on Hoogstad. A warning shot was fired when three of the car's occupants tried to flee on foot. All three suspects were arrested. The woman was left behind in the car. The incident in Zeist also involved a warning shot fired by the police. This happened after a suspect tried to escape during his arrest, a police spokesperson told AD. Officers noticed a motorist driving away at high speed after noticing the police on the A12 near Maarn. The driver turned of his car's lights, threw a number of items out of the car and took the exit at Driebergen. After a chase the olice managed to block the road and stop the car in Zeist. The three occupants tried to escape on foot and the police fired a warning shot. Two people were arrested, the third managed to escape.
