Football fan protest investigated for antisemitism

A 29 year old man was arrested in The Hague on Saturday following a ADO fan protest. The man was arrested for gross insult and shouting antisemitic slogans during the protest march, the police announced on Sunday. The Public Prosecutor is investigating the antisemitic slogans shouted by ADO supporters. The protest started on the Plein at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Around 6:45 the group started marching through The Hague center. According to the police, the march went down without any destruction of property and without serious skirmishes. The police kept an eye on the march, but at an "appropriate distance". Some supporters shouted antisemitic slogans during the march. The police decided not to intervene immediately, due to the possible escalation that police intervention could cause. The police kept an eye on the suspect and arrested him when he left the square. He will appear in court on a later date. According to the police, more arrests may follow.
