Man, 23, dies after assault on Hague square
A 23-year-old man died on Sunday, several hours after being assaulted on the Plein in The Hague. The police are looking for the perpetrator or perpetrators and ask witnesses to come forward.
The emergency services received the first report of an assault on the Plein at 00:50 a.m. on Sunday. First responders found the critically injured 23-year-old man at the scene. They rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later on Sunday morning.
The police believe an argument involving several people preceded the assault. The argument started on Lange Poten, a street in The Hague city center between the Spui and the Plein. The victim was beaten opposite a catering establishment on the Plein, the police said.
The police set up a large-scale investigation team to figure out exactly what happened. “The police are investigating many scenarios.”
Investigators asked witnesses and anyone with relevant video footage from doorbell cameras, dashcams, or security cameras to come forward.
