Hoofddorp shooting suspect turns himself into the police

A 34 year old man from Zaandam has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting in Hoofddorp on Monday night. According to the police, the man turned himself in on Tuesday morning. A woman was shot and killed on Sjoukje Dijkstralaan in Hoofddorp around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The police believe that the victim is a 35 year old woman from Hoofddorp, but the formal identification still has to be done. At this stage the police assume that the motive for the shooting has to do with relationship problems. The 34 year old suspect is in custody and is being kept in isolation - he is only allowed contact with his lawyer. On Monday night the police launched an active search for the suspect, deploying a helicopter to help in the search.. A trace evidence investigation was also done at the crime scene. Part of the crime scene is still closed off as the forensic investigation is still underway.
