Many injuries reported in snack bar fire at senior center
Several people were wounded in a fire at a cafeteria below a senior complex on Otto C. Huismantstraat in Nijmegen this morning.
The fire started just after 06:00 a.m. in the cafeteria Ugala. The houses above the cafeteria are being evacuated. AD reports that there is a potential risk of collapse. Eyewitnesses told the newspaper that some of the people have burns, scrapes and breathing difficulties.
Evacuated residents were initially given shelter in a complex on Baladestraat, across the burning cafeteria. Ambulance transported several people to the hospital from there. A bus is waiting to take the other residents to community center De Schalmei.
