Dutchman held in international prostitute ring

A 55-year-old Dutchman was arrested in his villa in Boliqueime, Portugal suspected of leading an international prostitution network. The man recruited expensive prostitutes in Paris, London and Amsterdam from over the internet to offer to local clients at a premium price. The arrest was made by Portugal's Polícia Judiciária executing a European arrest warrant issued by the French justice department. Police also seized a bank account with 200,000 euros, 11,000 British pounds in cash, computers, accounts, and jewellery. The man ran the prostitution ring online from his home, entertaining customers from France, Britain and the Netherlands, according to media reports in Portugal. Clients were required to pay 500 euros per/hour, half of which was passed onto the prostitute. The matter has been brought before a Portuguese appellate court, which is expected to hand him over to French authorities.
