Efteling sees fewer visitors

The usually popular theme park, the Efteling, has experienced a drop in visitors for the first time in seven years. Despite the pleasant weather, fewer people took to the fairy-tale park. Last year, the park in Kaatsheuvel received 4,150,000 people, which is 80, 000 less than the year before. Since 2006, the park was breaking visitor-figure records, even though park entry prices rose. The Efteling is not yet worried, however. "This was calculated in", a spokesperson says. "It was a year without big investments in new attractions. Moreover these are economically difficult times. We are glad hat we still come out above 4 million." The park has the goal to reach 5 million visitors in 2020, which, according to the spokesperson, is a goal that remains unchanged despite this drop in visitor numbers.
