The concrete around the tram tracks on the Rozengracht in Amsterdam is in such a poor condition that major repairs need to be done as soon as possible. The road will therefore need to be be closed to tram and car traffic from September 5th to October 1st, alderman Sharon Dijksma of traffic and transport wrote in a letter to the city council, AT5 reports.

Dutch public works department Rijkswaterstaat opened four of Schiphol tunnel's six lanes for Friday morning rush hour. Schiphol Airport can now also be reached directly via a turn immediately after the tunnel, NOS reports.

The Dom Tower in Utrecht is deteriorating faster than thought and it is starting to crumble, according to a letter from alderman Paul Jansen. The city is installing nets in the lantern - the open part of the tower - to prevent visitors and other pedestrians getting hit on the head, NOS reports.

The tower was inspected in October. The inspection revealed that the south and west sides of the tower in particular are worse off than expected. The Dom is not at the point of collapse, but intervention is needed. Nets will now be placed in the tower at a height of 70 and 90 meters.

The Eerste Kamer (Senate) wants the Netherlands to make a financial contribution to repair the damage done to the Barcaccia fountain in Rome by rioting Feyenoord supporters, NOS reports. The Cabinet has pledged support to private initiatives launched for this matter, but Minister Bert Koenders (Foreign Affairs) and Minister Ivo Opstelten (Security and Justice) did not explicitly discuss compensation.

After trains traveling to Schiphol came to a near stand still on Thursday night, rail traffic to the Amsterdam airport has been cancelled throughout the weekend, and it is expected to remain significantly affected at least to Monday's evening rush hour. The trouble started when copper thieves cut through electricity wires, setting the wires alight and causing damage to the tracks.
