Music and entertainment festivals across the country received thousands of visitors, organizers say, with free festival Parkpop in Den Haag leading the pack after drawing in over 190,000 visitors. The organizers believe that the festival was a big success, even thought the festival program was adjusted so visitors could enjoy the football match between The Netherlands and Mexico, where The Netherlands advanced to the quarter finals after winning by a score of 2-1.
For the first time in 34 years, the Parkpop organization has decided to temporarily put the festival on hold during the Word Cup game between The Netherlands and Mexico this Sunday. The organizers of the free music festival located at the Zuiderpark in Den Haag, first announced that the festival will carry on as planned but to prevent visitors from leaving just before the game they have decided to show the match on big screens beginning with the 6 p.m. kickoff.
Festivals making final preparations for this weekends events are going out of their way to make sure that Oranje fans will be able to watch Sunday's World Cup match between the Netherlands and Mexico without issue. Festival organizers across the country are scrambling to provide large screens so supporters can cheer on Holland, newspaper Parool reported.
