A shedding cat may have been the downfall of three men suspected of a burglary in Muiderberg. The three suspects deny having anything to do with the break-in, but their shoes were covered in cat hair. The house that was burgled is home to a cat that sheds a lot, NH Nieuws reports after a tweet from a community police officer.

The resident came home to find her home broken into and the suspects running away. The police gave chase, and finally caught and arrested the trio in Amersfoort.

Theo Vervelde, the 73-year-old man who found skeletal remains in a forested area in Hummelo on Tuesday afternoon, also found an identity card with the remains. He is therefore convinced that the remains are human, he said to De Gelderlander.

The police and Netherlands Forensic Institute are investigating the remains, found in a forest plot on the corner of Zomerweg and Zutphen Emmerikseweg. The police have not yet confirmed whether the remains are human.

A hiker found a skull in the forest near Garderenseweg in Putten on on Saturday. The police are investigating, but it may be another two or three weeks before more information is available, a spokesperson said to De Stentor.

The police did a forensic investigation at the scene of the discovery, and the skull was sent to the Netherlands Forensic Institute for further investigation.

The mother standing trial for the murder or manslaughter of her 8-year-old daughter Sharleyne in Hoogeveen in 2015, claims she can't remember anything after she saw her daughter's body lying outside their apartment building over the balustrade of their 10th floor home. "From then on it's black", she said in court on Wednesday, NU.nl reports.

The court wanted Helene J. to explain exactly what happened on the night of June 7th and early morning of June 8th, when the girl died. But J. said she can't remember anything due to the panic after seeing her daughter's body.

On Friday the court in Utrecht remanded a 16-year-old boy from Den Bosch suspected of murdering 14-year-old Savannah Dekker from Bunschoten into custody for another three months. This was the teen boy's second appearance in court since he was arrested in June, AD reports.

Missing 25-year-old Anne Faber was found dead in the woods on holiday park Horsterwold in Zeewolde on Thursday afternoon. Her body was taken to the Netherlands Forensic Institute in The Hague for investigation. At around 9:00 p.m. the police announced on Twitter that their investigation at the scene was done and the area is open to the public again.

Relatives of killed Moluccan train hijackers received transcriptions of sound recordings made when soldiers stormed the hijacked train at De Punt in 1977. A number of soldiers were carrying recording equipment, intended for training purposes. The Netherlands Forensic Institute transcribed the recordings after the court ordered this done, NOS reports.

An explosive found in Amsterdam's In The City Cafe on Kleine Gartmanplantsoen on Wednesday was a hand grenade, the police confirmed, according to NOS.

The cafe and surrounding area were evacuated following the discovery of the explosive and closed down for several hours while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team disarmed it.

Cafe In The City in Amsterdam was closed down indefinitely by order of Mayor Eberhard van der Laan on Wednesday evening following the discovery of a small explosive, believed to be a hand grenade, earlier in the day, Het Parool reports.

The cafe is on Kleine Gartmansplantsoen, near Leidseplein. The cafe and surrounding area were evacuated and closed down for several hours after the explosive was found, bringing public transport in the area to a stand still.

Two skeletons were found on Steenweg in the Gelderland town of Waardenburg during excavation work for a bicycle path, community officer Jolanda Donkers confirmed to the Gelderlander. Based on other objects found in the ground, archeologists estimate the skeletons to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old, according to the newspaper.

The skeletons were found on Monday. The archeologists believe that a third skeleton may be buried deeper down, they are doing further investigation on Steenweg.
