Toine Beukering, Senator for right-wing nationalist party FvD, apologized for describing Jewish people in the Holocaust as "docile lambs" during an interview with the Telegraaf on Saturday. "That was a very awkward comment. I also regret it and take it back", Beukering now said, the Telegraaf reports.

The Jewish people put up "very little resistance" in World War Two, exacerbating the Holocaust, said Toine Beukering in an interview with the Telegraaf. The 60-year-old former brigadier general has never served in politics, but has been put forward by far right wing nationalist party Forum voor Democratie as a candidate to lead the Dutch senate.

Over 1,200 academics signed an open letter in which they take a stand against statements made by FvD leader Thierry Baudet about universities. According to the signatories, Baudet's statements "conjure up a conspiratorial atmosphere" in which academics, journalists, artists and architects are portrayed "as the enemy of the people".

In a debate on the matter on Monday night, she said that she regrets that the tweet was misunderstood, but she stands by the content, AD reports.

Right-wing extremists in the Netherlands are increasingly vocal about encouraging and glorifying violence against Muslims and the government in particular, intelligence service AIVD said in a new publication. While this group seldom resorts to physical violence, the AIVD is concerned about the climate arising in the Netherlands, NU.nl reports.

Dutch citizens with dual nationality must lose their voting rights and must not be eligible for political positions in the Netherlands, according to PVV leader Geert Wilders. This is in the interests of "the Netherlands' survival", he said in an interview with the Telegraaf.

"The Netherlands is our country. It must be run by Dutch, who are elected by Dutch. By Dutch wo do not even have the appearance of double loyalty", he said to the newspaper.

New nationalist party FvD lost another member, the third this week. On Friday morning Susan Teunissen announced on Twitter that she canceled her membership to the party because she can not possibly conform to the course the FvD has taken. She also accused the party of being undemocratic.

"In view of the course that the FvD has taken and to which I can not possibly conform, I canceled my membership this morning. The way in which the party management deals with constructive criticism is far from democratic", Teunissen wrote on the social media platform.

New nationalist party FvD expelled two party members because they tried to seize power, Thierry Baudet's party said in a statement. The members involved are ex-senator Robert De Haze Winkelman and Betty Jo Wevers, both former members of ruling party VVD, ANP reports.

Dutch voters want a strong leader that will get things done, but within the democratic rules, according to a large-scale poll on populism by international poller Kantar Public. The researchers questioned representative groups in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Great Britain. They concluded that Germans are the least susceptible to populism, the French and English the most. The Netherlands is in between, the Volkskrant reports.

Both German president Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel's Cabinet Chief Peter Altmaier hope that Geert Wilders and his PVV will not come out on top in the Dutch parliamentary election tomorrow. According to Altmaier, it will be better for the Netherlands if the PVV is not in its government, BNR reports.

PvdA Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem thinks that PVV leader Geert Wilders and his discriminatory statements poison the atmosphere in Dutch society, he said to broadcaster BNR on Thursday.

Dijsselbloem was responding to German President Jaochim Gauck expressing his concerns about the Netherlands in the Telegraaf. Gauck said that nationalism can now be seen in most of the founding countries of the European Union. He called the movement a "poison" and "infection".

A float at the Dusseldorf carnival in Germany lined PVV leader Geert Wilders up with Donald Trump, Marine Le Pen and Adolf Hitler, with the words "Blond ist das neue Braun" - which translates to 'blonde is the new brown'.  

The slogan seems to compare the three blonde nationalist politicians with the brown shirts Nazis wore under Hitler. "Ziek, sick, krank", Wilders tweeted in response.

Unless the migrant crisis in Europe is addressed properly, there could be a surge of right-wing extremism across the continent, said Frans Timmermans, the First Vice-President of the European Commission. Speaking on BBC Radio, the former Dutch foreign affairs minister added that people who do not have a rightful claim to asylum should be swiftly deported.

Pro Patria, the anti-IS demonstration group in The Hague, has not been allowed by Mayor Jozias van Aartsen to march through the city's Schilderswijk neighborhood on the 20th of September. Because of this, the group wants to move the protest to the nearby Transvaal neighborhood instead, De Volkskrant reports.

After The Hague's Mayor Jozias van Aartsen instated a two-month ban against demonstrations in the previously fertile grounds of the Schilderswijk neighborhood, the battle for the Malieveld is on.
