The Dutch economy continues to grow strongly and economic growth is even accelerating, according to Statistics Netherlands. In the second quarter the Dutch economy grew by 0.7 percent compared to the first quarter of this year. The stats office attributes the accelerating growth to foreign trade and higher investments.

Minister Carola Schouten of Agriculture received a promise in China that the country will open its borders to veal exports from the Netherlands. This promise is seen as a great success for the Dutch trade mission currently ongoing in China, NOS reports.

The Netherlands had been negotiating for access to the Chinese market for 17 years, Schouten said, according to the broadcaster. Exporting veal to China will bring the sector around 15 million euros per year.

The Dutch economy grew by 3.1 percent in 2017, the strongest growth in 10 years, Statistics Netherlands reported on Wednesday.

In the last quarter of 2017, the economy's growth decreased somewhat, but was still strong at 2.9 percent compared to the last quarter of 2016. Compared to the third quarter of 2017, the GDP grew by 0.8 percent. 

Investments and exports in particular contributed to economic growth in the fourth quarter. Household consumption decreased somewhat, but the industry grew more.

The North American trade agreement NAFTA falling apart would have negative consequences for the three countries it covers - the United States, Canada, and Mexico - but not for the Netherlands, Rabobank said in a report drawn up in response to increasing uncertainty that NAFTA will survive. The agreement collapsing could give Dutch businesses a 3 billion euros boost, the bank calculates.

The Dutch economy will grow by 3.1 percent next year, according to the Netherlands central planning office for economic policy CPB. "Such growth percentages have not occurred since 2007", CPB said, NU.nl reports. "Because of the persistently high growth, there will be a boom in the coming year."

Of all the countries in the European Union, the Netherlands spends the most money on importing insects, Statistics Netherlands revealed on Thursday. In the first half of this year, the Netherlands spent 8.2 million euros on importing live insects, five times more than in 2012.

He talked about the devastation left of the Caribbean islands that form part of the Dutch Kingdom, terrorism around the world, the prosecution of those responsible for the MH17 disaster, and making sure that everyone in the Netherlands benefits from the improving economy, among other things.

The Dutch economy continues to grow steadily and its growth is expected to reach 3.3 percent this year, according to planning office CPB's estimate in its Macro Economic Exploration, which was published on Wednesday. If this estimate holds true, this will be the first time the Dutch economy grows by more than 3 percent since the outbreak of the economic crisis in 2007. In 2018 the gross domestic product is expected to grow by 2.5 percent, NU.nl reports.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated its travel advice for Turkey, due to current political tensions between the two countries. The Dutch government does not advise against going to Turkey, but does warn Dutch travelers to watch out for gatherings and avoid public places, ANP reports.

These warnings are on top of the already in place advice of risks in Turkey due to terrorist attacks and political tensions.

If American president Donald Trump goes through with his plan to protect the United States' industry with tariffs on imported goods and services, the Dutch economy could suffer a loss of billions of euros, according to calculations by ING Bank, Financieele Dagblad reports.

The bank based its calculations on a U.S. import duty of 10 percent. If that is the case, the Netherlands will export 3.7 billion euros less to the United States. That will result in the Dutch gross domestic product being 0.3 percent lower, according to the bank.

The Dutch economy grew by 2.1 percent in 2016, the strongest growth since 2007, according to preliminary figures Statistics Netherlands released on Tuesday. The economy of the Netherlands has shown steady growth for 11 quarters in a row, ANP reports.

In the fourth quarter of 2016 the economy grew by 0.5 percent. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2015, the growth was 2.3 percent.

The Netherlands can and should be preventing Dutch companies from exporting polluting fuel to Africa, lawyers of the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) conclude in an investigation commissioned by environmental organization Milieudefensie. By not intervening, the Dutch government is violating international treaties and human rights, the researchers conclude, the Telegraaf reports.

In the first nine months of 2016 Dutch companies exported more to the Ukraine than in the same period last year, according to figures from the European Commission (EC). The total trade between the Netherlands increased by 4 percent to 1.17 billion euros. According to the Commission, this can be attributed to the , the trade part of which took effect on January 1st, ANP reports.

The Dutch economy grew by 0.7 percent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter and by 2.4 percent compared to the third quarter in 2015, according to the initial figures by Statistics entherlands. This is the 10th quarter in a row that the Dutch economy showed growth.

Statistics Netherlands mainly attributes the growth to exports and household consumption. Consumers spent more on electronics, restaurants and other forms of entertainment. More foreign tourists also visited the Netherlands.

The bank lowered its economic growth forecast for 2016 from 2.1 percent to 1.8 percent and for next year from 1.9 percent to 1.3 percent
