Criminal lawyer Goran Sluiter filed charges against Rabobank on Thursday accusing the bank's executives of complicity in murder and other crimes committed by Mexican drug cartels. This follows an investigation by the United States judiciary into a Rabobank subsidiary suspected of laundering Mexican drug profits, the Volkskrant reports.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague acquitted Serbrian Vojislav Seslj of crimes against humanity and war crimes on Thursday. Seslj was charged with, among other things, crimes his militias committed in Croatia and Bosnia between 1991 and 1993

The Argentinian Public Prosecutor demanded a life-long prison sentence against former Transavia pilot Julio Poch for his involvement in the so-called "death flights" during the Argentinian dictatorship between 1975 and 1983. Opponents of the dictatorship were tortured and then thrown from aircraft into the ocean on these death flights.

The governing coalition in the Netherlands is split on a new proposal to extend the mandate of the International Criminal Court, housed in Den Haag. Joost Taverne, a member of parliament for the conservative VVD party, called into question the mandate’s definition of a “crime of aggression,” calling it unfocused and vague.

A new report issued by the UN Human Rights Office suggests that the Islamic State (ISIS) might have committed genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Calling them the three most serious international crimes, the organization is urging Iraq to sign on to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, a treaty that established the ICC and mandates that countries criminalize the crimes listed in the treaty under their own domestic law.
