A 52-year-old Dutch horse dealer was sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Crown Court in Canterbury for smuggling 50 kilograms of cocaine into Dover in the United Kingdom. He smuggled the drugs to raise money for the career of his daughter, a successful show jumper, the Telegraaf reports.

The British court found Mario van G. guilty of smuggling 50 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of almost 4 million pounds [around 4.5 million euros] into the country at the port of Dover.

Dutch transport company Reining Transport decided to stop all trips to England due to stowaways. According to the company, people trying to sneak onto trucks at Calais are becoming increasing aggressive, and drivers are no longer safe, the Telegraaf reports.

According to Reining director Gerrit Hes, his drivers are threatened with sticks and stones. "I'm not waiting for the first death or serious injury", he said to the Telegraaf, referring to a Polish trucker being killed in a crash caused by undocumented migrants in Ethiopia over the summer. They blocked the road with logs.

Eleven students and five teachers from the Strabrecht College in Geldorp were hospitalized after their school bus crashed into the back of a truck on the A16 between Duinkerken and Calais in France this morning, the school said in a on its website. The bus driver was critically injured and is in hospital in Lille.

Ten undocumented migrants were found hidden in a parked truck in Schaijk, Noord-Brabant on Monday morning. Among them were seven men, two women, and a teenaged child.

Dutch documentary filmmaker Maaike Engels and war photographer Teun Voeten were attacked by three asylum seekers in Calais on Friday while finishing off a documentary they've been working on since September. Their attackers were chased off by two other asylum seekers throwing stones at them. Engels managed to film the incident and posted it on YouTube

Police at the French port of Calais found a stockpile of loaded weapons on a Eurolines bus from Amsterdam last week. Customs officials conducting a routine search of luggage found ten handguns, five hundred loaded magazine clips, and a silencer according to French broadcaster RTL.
