A 14-year-old girl was threatened, stabbed, assaulted and humiliated near Utrecht Central Station in January. Two other girls, aged 15 and 17 years from Deleen and Utrecht, appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday as the suspected perpetrators of this abuse, AD reports.

A group of teenagers attacked an 11-year-old boy from Zutphen last week, tied him up in a playground using chicken wire and left him helpless in the freezing cold. The boy was stuck on the cold,wet ground, beneath a slide for over an hour before a passerby heard him calling for help. The police are investigating, AD reports.

On average three children in each class of 27 students are being bullied. That is almost 11 percent of young people in high school. Five percent of them particularly mention cyber-bullying, according to a national survey done by the 25 regional health services (GGD's) and national health service RIVM

About a quarter of Dutch workers are being bullied at work. This involves verbal- and sometimes even physical attacks. Employers are not doing enough to protect their staff members.

The RTL program Project P about bullying in schools, has been ordered by the court in Lelystad to remove Monday's episode from the schedule. The school where the episode was filmed demanded that the judge hold back the program. The court conceded as the privacy of the pupils weighs more than RTL's freedom of expression.

Various schools are outraged about a new television from RTL 5 that attempts to shine a light on bullying. Some of the images seem to have been recorded in secret, prompting some schools to take the matter to court in an effort to keep the images off the national screens.
