Between 1996 and 2003 Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam paid bribes to the Saudi kings Fahd and Abdullah, broadcaster Human reported on Monday based on documents from the Tax Authorities' investigative department FIOD. All in all Ballast Nedam paid 500 million dollars to members of the Saudi royal family, according to the broadcaster.

The company and the Public Prosecutor reached a 17.5 million euros settlement on this bribery case in 2012.

Dutch lawyer and former ABN Amro Commissioner Peter Wakkie was arrested in Spain, the local police confirmed to NOS. The arrest has to do with accusations against his business partner about paying bribes to members of the Russian government through the two's company Zed+, according to the broadcaster.

Shell is being investigated for bribery surrounding the granting of an oil contract in Nigeria. Investigators from the tax investigation service FIOD and the Public Prosecution office visited the Headquarters in The Hague in connection with that case, a spokesperson for the oil company said to news wire ANP.

The court in Morocco sentenced Hamza B. to 20 years in prison on appeal for his involvement in the double assassination in Staatsliedenbuurt, Amsterdam in 2012. This is the same sentence he received in the first trial.

Two former United Nations consultants were sentenced to imprisonment by a UK court for receiving brides and rigging pharmaceutical contracts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, reported newspaper The Guardian from London’s Southwark crown court. Guido Baker, 41 and Sijbrandus Scheffer, 63, both Dutch nationals, took payments totalling 650,000 pounds from Danish pharmaceutical company, Missionpharma, to help win them lucrative contracts with the UN, investigators allege.

Hamza B.'s family did not only bribe Moroccan judges for a reduced sentence, but also the police in Tangier. Hamza B. has been convicted for involvement in the Staatsliedenbuurt assassinations in 2012.
