Artists more often have a low income and are more often dependent on benefits than other employed persons in the Netherlands, despite being a profession with a high education level. In the period between 2013 and 2015, over half of artists earned less than 30 thousand euros per year. The average for all employees is 39 percent, and 17 percent for all highly educated workers, Statistics Netherlands reported on Friday.
Facebook temporarily blocked Amsterdam artist Peter Klashorst from the social media site for not following the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. According to Klashorst, Facebook finds one of his paintings of Donald Trump offensive and suggests that he uses underage models for his work, the artist said to Het Parool.
The Lowlands Festival confirmed 13 new artists to its line-up earlier this week. Scotland-based indie-rockers Franz Ferdinand & Sparks (FFS) will showcase their supergroup. American nu-metal band Limp Bizkit is among the most well-known acts added to the lineup in the latest announcement.
Known for their viral videos, Boris Lange and LifeHunters.tv presented a ten euro IKEA painting as a masterpiece inside Museum Arnhem for their latest piece. Dressed up as an art connoisseur cliché, Lange walks around the museum asking visitors for their opinions about the artwork, which he says is painted by up-and-coming Swedish artist Ike Andrews.

The Ministry of Justice has demanded a sentence of 12 months, four of which provisional, against 72-year old Robert de B. on Tuesday, who sold fake etchings of artist Anton Heyboer to a gallery-owner in Amsterdam.
