Prisoners were evacuated from a wing in the prison in Zwaag, Noord-Holland after a fire broke out in one of the cells during the early hours of Thursday morning. The prisoner staying in the cell where the fire started, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries
The number of King's Day arrests and injuries in Amsterdam showed a significant decline this year. The number of arrests dropped by 21 percent compared to King's Day 2014 and the number of injuries decreased by 12 percent.
By 18:00 on Monday NS transported more than 250 thousand people to Amsterdam to celebrate King's Day. According to the railway company, this number is about the same as previous King's Days.

There was a fight and thrown glass on Nieuwendijk towards the end of the day and the street had to be swept clean. Amsterdam celebrated King's Day with flea markets and about 160 events.
A large fire raged in an apartment building on the Europaplein in Wijchen this morning, the Gelderlander reports. The building is occupied by mostly senior residents and is situated at the back of the Wijchen municipality office in the center.
