Man arrested in Middelburg after 35-year-old found fatally injured on street
Dutch police have arrested a 40-year-old man from Middelburg in connection with the death of a 35-year-old man who was found severely injured on a street in the city, authorities reported.
The investigation began on Wednesday evening, June 17, when emergency services found the 35-year-old man seriously injured on Driewegenhof in Middelburg. He was transported urgently to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police said it is still unclear what happened and how the man sustained his injuries. Investigators have spoken with multiple people and carried out an extensive forensic examination at the scene.
During the investigation, the identity of a 40-year-old man from Middelburg emerged as a possible suspect. He was arrested on Friday morning.
Police confirmed he has been placed in custody for investigative detention, meaning he may be held for several days while the inquiry continues.
