Air France flight makes emergency diversion to Schiphol after smoke seen in cabin

An Air France passenger flight from Paris to Copenhagen diverted to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Monday morning after smoke was detected in the cabin, triggering a large emergency response. No injuries were reported, according to AT5.

The Airbus A220-300 was flying over Groningen when pilots determined the situation onboard was no longer safe and decided to divert the aircraft. The flight had departed from Paris and was bound for Copenhagen.

A spokesperson for Schiphol confirmed, saying, “The aircraft did divert to Schiphol.” Authorities said the cause of the smoke remains unknown. “That is under investigation,” the spokesperson said.

Emergency services, including multiple fire engines and ambulances, were deployed to the airport as a precautionary measure. They were ultimately not needed.

“There were no injuries, and all passengers were able to leave the aircraft on their own,” a spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Kennemerland said.
