Man injured in hit-and-run on pedestrian crossing in Rotterdam

A pedestrian was hit by a car while walking over a pedestrian crossing on Oudedijk in Rotterdam’s Kralingen district on Sunday. The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim behind with serious injuries, Rijnmond reported.

The victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Witnesses told Rijnmond that he looked badly hurt, but was conscious.

The police later found the car in a parking lot near Excelsior Stadium. The vehicle’s windshield was severely damaged.

The driver turned himself in at the scene of the accident some time later, a Rijnmond correspondent reported. The police arrested the suspect.
