Video: PSV title sparks massive street party in Eindhoven as fans flood city center
PSV’s 27th Dutch league title set off large-scale celebrations Sunday in Eindhoven, where fans packed Stratumseind and the city center after the championship was confirmed, filling streets with red smoke and chants, AD reports.
Crowds gathered in the nightlife district shortly after Feyenoord’s 0-0 draw at FC Volendam confirmed PSV as champion. Supporters quickly spilled into the streets, with live images from Omroep Brabant showing dense groups of fans celebrating in the city center.
Stratumseind became the main focal point of the celebrations, with large numbers of supporters dressed in club colors as the title was secured. Red smoke drifted through the area as fans reacted to the official confirmation of the championship.
The atmosphere briefly shifted when heavy rain swept through Eindhoven, forcing many supporters to move back indoors. Bars in the area filled as the celebration continued inside, while street activity temporarily thinned before picking up again.
Among those celebrating was Mascha Prins, from the PSV podcast “Heet van de Herdgang,” who became emotional during the moment. “So happy that it is finally over!” she told AD.
Longtime supporters also marked the occasion together. Fans Peter, Martin, and Bas, who have followed PSV for decades, celebrated in the city center. “It’s a shame that we don’t get the trophy now,” Martin said. “But that will come Tuesday.” Bas added, “It is still a celebration.”
