Man seriously wounded in De Baarsjes shooting in Amsterdam

A man was seriously injured Friday night in a shooting at a street intersection in the De Baarsjes neighborhood of Amsterdam, police said.

According to AT5, the shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Marco Polostraat and Davisstraat. The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital. “A neighbor and I heard one shot, then screaming,” a resident told AT5.

Multiple ambulances and a mobile medical trauma team were dispatched to the scene. Police cordoned off part of the street while emergency responders treated the victim and officers began their investigation.

According to police, the man sustained one or two gunshot wounds. He is seriously injured, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
