A project developer divided four Amsterdam apartments in half and are now selling the eight half-apartments for between 275 thousand euros and 312,500 euros, De Westkrant discovered based on advertisements on property site Funda. The apartments, located on Kortenaerstraat in the popular De Baarsjes district, are 31 square meters or less in size.
A permanent tribute to deceased Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan was unveiled in Amsterdam West on Monday afternoon. His widow Femke officially unveiled the mural on Mercatorplein in De Baarsjes, the neighborhood where Van der Laan lived for a long time, AD reports.
The mural consists of picture of Van der Laan, titled Damsko Strijder by artist collective Kamp Seedorf. Damsko means Amsterdam in local slang, and 'Strijder' or 'warrior' in English refers to the mayor's street fighting mentality, according to the makers.
A man was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in a home in the Amsterdam neighborhood of De Baarsjes on Tuesday evening. A suspect was arrested in the area, AT5 reports.
The police responded to the scene around 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Forensic investigators closed down part of Van Kinsbergenstraat and part of Van Speijkstraat for investigation.
The victim was taken to hospital.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, but the police found no evidence of shots being fired, according to the broadcaster.
A 32-year-old man from Arnhem stabbed three people in the Amsterdam neighborhood of De Baarsjes in an apparent attempt to steal their scooters and car on Tuesday night. He was arrested a short time later, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Around 11:00 p.m. the man jumped in front of a moving scooter on Jan Evertsenstraat and demanded that the scooter rider hand over the vehicle. The driver refused, and got stabbed. The man fled, leaving the victim bleeding on the street.
