Amsterdammers to pick spot for Eberhard van der Laan artwork
Amsterdam West wants to put up an artwork in the district showing deceased mayor Eberhard van der Laan's final instruction to his people: "Take good care of our city and each other". The district is calling on Amsterdam residents to help pick where this artwork will go, AT5 reports.
The West district is looking for a building somewhere in De Baarsjes where this quote can be worked into a piece of art, for example a mural. Suggestions for a location can be submitted here until September 2nd. The location will be announced on September 28th.
Amsterdam residents can also have an input on what the artwork will look like. They are invited to submit a design before October 26th.
The city hopes to unveil the artwork in the spring of next year. De Baarsjes was chosen for its location, because Van der Laan lived in the neighborhood for many years.
