Angolan fugitive arrested in Waalwijk for 2020 murder of Manchester teen
Dutch police arrested a 25-year-old Angolan man Friday evening in Waalwijk who was wanted in the United Kingdom for his role in the 2020 murder of a 16-year-old boy in Manchester, AD reports.
A group of 13 men and boys, armed with machetes and clubs, attacked the teenager on November 5, 2020. According to the ANP, the attack followed a dispute between rival gangs. Seven of those involved have been convicted, while several others, including the 25-year-old suspect, fled the country.
The arrest was carried out by a specialized police unit, FastNL (Fugitive Active Search Team), following information from British and Portuguese authorities that led to the suspect’s location. Dutch authorities said the capture “is the result of international cooperation between law enforcement agencies.”
The suspect remains in police custody in Waalwijk as authorities coordinate with UK officials on extradition and further legal proceedings.
