Deceased man found in Boxmeer car was maybe transported dead from Belgian drug lab

The man found dead on Oct. 13 in a stolen car in Boxmeer may have been transported dead from Belgium, where, according to police, he might have died in a drug lab.

The 39-year-old man, who had no fixed residence, was found in mid-October in a stolen car on Loerangelsestraat in Boxmeer.

Given the circumstances, police suspected he was a victim of a crime. But the cause of his death continues to be under investigation.

On Friday, a 43-year-old man and his 20-year-old daughter from Boxmeer were arrested on suspicion of being involved in moving, hiding, and abandoning the body.

The daughter was released on Sunday, but she remains a suspect. On Monday, it was decided that the man would remain in custody.

The investigation into the man’s death earlier led police to Torhout in Belgium. In the week after the body was found, an active drug lab was discovered there. Belgian police arrested four Dutch men.

Police had earlier released images of two men seen near homes on Jeroen Boschstraat in Boxmeer on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 11.
