Man found dead in parked car in Boxmeer; Police "strongly suspect foul play"
The body of a man was discovered in a car parked in Boxmeer, Gelderland, on Monday afternoon. The police “strongly suspect foul play” and launched a large-scale investigation.
A passerby noticed the car parked on Loerangelsestraat at around 5:00 p.m. and found it suspicious, so they called the police. Responding officers found a man dead inside the vehicle.
The police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation due to indications of foul play. So far, no information has been released about the victim or what happened to him. “Although we believe we know who the victim is, we have not yet been able to determine his identity with certainty,” the police said in a statement published on Tuesday.
Forensic investigators gathered trace evidence at the scene, and officers canvassed the neighborhood. “We ask any residents and passersby who saw anything unusual on Loerangelsestraat since Sunday evening, or anyone with valuable information in any other way, to contact the police.”
According to De Gelderlander, many residents of nearby Parklaan in Boxmeer heard two loud bangs around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. It is unclear whether this is linked to the man’s death.
