Man left unconscious after brutal assault at Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station
Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a man was violently attacked in the station hall of Amsterdam’s Bijlmer ArenA train station on Friday, leaving him unconscious.
A man struck the victim at around 6:45 p.m. After the victim fell to the ground, he was repeatedly kicked in the head. A second man then hit him on the head with a bottle while the victim lay motionless. “The suspects then grabbed their belongings and left the injured man unconscious in the station hall,” a police spokesperson said.
Police described the attackers as two men with light brown skin, both around 25 years old. One is approximately 165 cm tall and the other about 175 cm. Both were wearing dark clothing.
The victim has been discharged from the hospital but continues to suffer from severe headaches, the spokesperson said.
Images and videos of the assault have been widely shared on social media. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or recorded it to come forward.
