Hundreds join silent march in Terneuzen for mother, daughter killed in home
Hundreds of people joined a silent march Saturday evening in Terneuzen to honor a 29-year-old mother and her 5-year-old daughter who were found dead earlier this month in their home, Omroep Zeeland reported.
The police said both victims were killed as a result of violence. Authorities confirmed no other individuals were involved but provided no further details about the circumstances of their deaths.
The march began at a local spot where the girl often played and proceeded to the family’s apartment on Vincent van Goghstraat. In recent weeks, residents have left a large collection of flowers and stuffed animals at the site.
The family spoke to attendees outside the apartment. A niece of the father told Omroep Zeeland, “It is beautiful that so many people were here. I am glad we could do this for them. A day full of emotions. We feel supported. It is wonderful.” She added that seeing the abundance of flowers and stuffed animals brought comfort to the family.
