Hit-and-run crash leaves Amsterdam bicyclist fighting for her life
Authorities are urgently seeking the driver of a car who struck a woman on her bicycle and fled the scene, leaving her seriously injured. According to the police, the incident occurred overnight on the Willem de Zwijgerlaan, between September 27 and 28, 2025.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., the emergency dispatch center received a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist at the intersection of Willem de Zwijgerlaan and Admiraal de Ruijterweg. Police said the woman was thrown to the ground and dragged several meters by the car before the driver fled without offering assistance.
Officers arriving at the scene provided first aid, and ambulance personnel transported the woman to a hospital. Authorities described her injuries as serious.
Police are appealing for witnesses and any video footage, including from security cameras, doorbell cameras, or dashcams in nearby vehicles. “We urgently want to speak with the driver who fled after the accident,” the police said.
