Amber Alert issued for missing siblings in Beerta; Police seek gray Toyota

Dutch police issued a nationwide Amber Alert for two children reported missing in Beerta. The children, 10-year-old Jeffrey and 8-year-old Emma, were last seen around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Authorities believe they may have been taken in a gray Toyota Avensis with Dutch license plate 77-NLV-4.

Jeffrey is described as approximately 1.50 meters tall. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a yellow shirt and black shorts, both from the brand Sports, and gray hiking shoes. Emma is approximately 1.30 meters tall. It is unknown what clothing she was wearing, but police say she had on purple athletic shoes.

According to the police, the children’s current whereabouts are unknown and there are serious concerns for their safety. The Amber Alert was activated after officers determined there was a credible indication that the children may be in life-threatening danger. “This alert must be seen as the most serious instrument we as police can deploy in disappearance cases,” a spokesperson explained in an earlier statement about the system.

Police believe that Jeffrey and Emma may be traveling in a gray Toyota Avensis, bearing the license plate 77-NLV-4. Anyone who sees this vehicle or has seen it since Saturday afternoon is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. Police are asking the public to be on high alert and to report any information that could lead to locating the children. Tips can be submitted via the official tip form or by calling the Opsporingstiplijn (Investigation Tip Line) at 0800-6070.

The Amber Alert system was introduced in the Netherlands in 2008 and is used sparingly. It is reserved for cases in which there is strong evidence that a missing child is in imminent danger, such as in abductions or disappearances under suspicious or high-risk circumstances.
