Woman who was accused of killing her one-year-old child dies in prison
A 29-year-old woman who was accused of killing her one-year-old child in Almere last year died in prison last week. The Public Prosecution Service would not share the cause of her death, only that it did not come as a result of a crime. The woman was in pre-trial detention at the Penitentiaire Inrichtingen Zwolle.
Two children were found in a house on Bovenloop in Almere Haven on January 16 of last year. The youngest child passed away after efforts by police officers to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful.
The other child, who sources claim was two years old at the time of the incident, was brought to the hospital. It was reported at the time that the girl was successful in her recovery. The children’s mother, who was from Amsterdam, was arrested in her home. She was suspected of murder and attempted murder.
The woman was scheduled to appear in court on May 21. The hearing will proceed, but the criminal case will then end at the beginning. Deceased people cannot be prosecuted.
