Storm Conall will likely strike the Netherlands tomorrow, experts say
The whole of the Netherlands will likely be struck by Storm Conall on Wednesday. The wind shifts and wind speeds will increase during the afternoon and evening, Weeronline reported. The storm is expected to peak between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
There is a 70 percent chance of an official storm with wind force 9, on the West Coast. Wind speeds may increase to wind force 10. Wind gusts between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour will occur throughout the Netherlands and up to a maximum of 110 kilometers per hour on the coast.
It is not exactly clear yet how the storm will travel across the Netherlands. The expectations are that Zuid and Noord-Holland will have to deal with hard winds in the afternoon, after which the center of gravity of the storm will move over the IJsselmeer area to the northern coastal areas in the evening.
The hard winds and rain cause delays in traffic. Weeronline also recommends people to put loose items in the garden in storage and not leave any wheelie bins on the street.
Conall would be the second autumn storm in the Netherlands this year after storm Aitor on September 27.
The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has issued a warning for parts of the Netherlands for Wednesday. The provinces Zeeland, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland, Flevoland, Overijssel, Drenthe, Friesland, and Groningen have been given a code yellow between 3 p.m. and midnight.
