Last day of calm autumn weather; Rainy weekend ahead, maybe wet snow next week

Today will be the last day of calm autumn weather in the Netherlands. This weekend will be rainy, with temperatures around average for the time of year. Next week will be colder, with a chance of the first wet snow of the season, Weeronline reports.

Friday will still be fairly calm, with some occasional drizzle falling in the afternoon. “It will remain mostly cloudy everywhere, with hardly any room for the sun,” the weather service said. Maximums will range from 12 degrees near the sea to 10 degrees inland, with a weak to moderate southwesterly wind.

Saturday will be cloudy, with some drizzle here and there in the morning and a moderate to strong southwesterly wind. The wind will pick up a bit more in the afternoon and the drizzle will make way for steady rainfall from the northwest. Maximus will climb to between 8 and 10 degrees in most places, though the wind will make it feel colder.

On Sunday, steady showers will move from the northwest to the southeast across the country. Some thunder and hail are also possible. “Between the showers, we will occasionally see the sun,” Weeronline said. Maximums will range between 11 degrees at sea to 8 degrees in the east. A strong northwesterly wind will blow at sea. Inland, the wind will be moderate and westerly.

The forecast for Monday is still somewhat uncertain, but at this stage, Weeronline expects a soaking wet and colder day, with rain almost all day and maximums between 6 and 9 degrees.

Tuesday will be stormy with a lot of wind and showers and maximums around 8 degrees. Temperatures will be slightly lower for the rest of the week, with maximums between 4 and 7 degrees and minimums dropping toward freezing. “The weather will consist of a mix of clouds, occasional sunshine, and daily showers. These showers can regularly bring hail or wet snow. Thunderstorms are also a possibility,” Weeronline said.
