Search for missing Dutch tourist in France delayed due to thunderstorms

The RHWW Rescue Dog Foundation had to call off the search for 73-year-old Dutch tourist Marjan Roozendaal, who has been missing in the south of France since last week. The search had to be called off several times on Sunday due to bad weather. It rained and thundered heavily in the early morning and afternoon so that the search could not continue. Marjan Roozendaal had become untraceable after leaving the Parc Le Duc campsite in Vacquières last week.

The RHWW team, consisting of 19 people and 14 dogs, will search a large area on Sunday. It is not known how many square kilometers it concerns. The rain is partly a disadvantage because it makes it more difficult for the dogs to pick up scent trails, says RHWW president Louise Smits-Jansen. At the same time, the rain provides a certain amount of cooling, which allows for a longer search. "We'll keep working as long as the dogs can handle it," said Smits-Jansen.

According to Roozendaal's daughter, the camera footage shows the 73-year-old walking off the campsite last Sunday and looking confused. "It's Strange because she knows she has Alzheimer's and would never leave the park on her own," the daughter told AD.

The group searched for the missing woman all day Saturday in vain. The team is expected to remain in the area until Thursday if necessary.

According to various media, her family is very worried because she is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously stated that it would not comment on the woman's medical condition for privacy reasons. However, assistance is provided by the ministry.
