Missing Dutch woman, 73, found dead near French campsite
Sniffer dogs have found the body of missing Marjan Roozendaal in France, the Dutch Rescue Dogs Foundation said. She was found near the campsite she went missing from and died in an accident. Her family confirmed her death in a statement, NOS reports.
The 73-year-old woman from Amsterdam was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and had been missing for a week. She was visiting a friend at a campsite in Vacquières in southern France.
Last week Sunday, Marjan was walking to the pool and disappeared. Her daughter previously said that camera footage showed her mother had wandered out of the campsite. Her body was found about 700 meters from the campsite. It is suspected that she slipped and fell from a ten-meter-high rock.
“Our hopes for a safe return have disappeared,” the family said in a statement. They thanked the Rescue Dog Foundation, who had been searching for Marjan with 14 dogs since the weekend.
