Two hurt, significant damage in overnight explosion at Hague home
Two people got hurt in an explosion and resulting fire at a home in The Hague overnight. The incident left several homes damaged, the police said. Investigators are looking for witnesses and relevant camera footage.
The police and fire department responded to the home on Insingastraat at around 2:00 a.m. after receiving a report of an explosion. First responders found the home’s residents outside and several neighbors watching the fire from their balconies.
Two residents suffered from smoke inhalation. Paramedics treated them at the scene and then transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment and observation.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze caused by the explosion, and experts from the police’s Explosives Reconnaissance Team and Forensic Investigation conducted trace evidence investigations in the building. Police officers also extensively searched the area but did not arrest anyone.
According to the police, the explosion and fire caused significant damage. “The upper windows and front doors of several homes are broken,” the police said. “The residents of damaged homes could not return and shelter was arranged for them.”
The police are looking for witnesses. They also asked local residents to check their doorbell- and surveillance cameras for relevant footage and submit it.
