Explosion at Amsterdam home; Resident taken to hospital with smoke inhalation
An explosive went off at a home on Kelbergen in Amsterdam Zuidoost causing a fire on Sunday evening. Paramedics took one resident to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, but they were otherwise unharmed, the police said.
The blast happened at around 8:00 p.m. The resulting blaze caused a lot of smoke and multiple fire trucks responded to the scene. Firefighters removed the resident from the home, the police said. No one else was home at the time of the explosion.
The police are looking for two suspects, likely teenagers between the ages of 15 and 20. They were dressed entirely in black and were seen fleeing the scene on a fat bike. At least one suspect had dark skin. Witnesses couldn’t see the other suspect clearly.
The police are investigating and asked witnesses to come forward.
