Fifth of Dutch think gov't is relaxing lockdown too quickly

Almost a fifth (17 percent) of Netherlands residents think that the Dutch government is moving too quickly in easing the Netherlands out of its coronavirus lockdown. Some 70 percent have confidence in the step-by-step plan presented by Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health on Wednesday, according to a survey by Hart van Nederland among nearly 2 thousand Dutch.

Among other things, the Ministers announced that hair salons, nail salons, and other contact professions can reopen along with the primary schools on Monday, May 11. On June 1, the more trains will run again according to the usual timetable, and restaurants and cinemas can reopen. Weddings with larger groups will follow after that. And saunas, sex clubs and gyms will reopen last.

The best news for Hart van Nederland's respondents was that hairdressers and other contact professions can restart - 45 percent were happiest with this announcement. The relaxation of visiting rules at nursing home came second place with 17 percent, followed by terraces reopening at 16 percent.
