Gunshot victim dumped at Amsterdam hospital

The police arrested two people early on Friday morning in connection with a strange incident in Amsterdam a night before. A man with a bullet wound was dropped off at an Amsterdam hospital by an Audi A3 with French license plates, which then quickly left the scene.

The police were summoned to the hospital at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, after the man had made his way into the hospital. He told responding officers that he was shot in the leg on the street. "The circumstances under which this had happened were unclear", the police said. The man was treated and then discharged from the hospital.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, patrolling officers saw the Audi A3 driving on the A2 near Breukelen and pulled the car over at a gas station. The officers found blood in the vehicle, but no firearm. At the request of the investigating team, the two people inside the car - who were unable to identify themselves - were arrested and taken to a detention center.

The suspects, aged 21 and 27 years, are in custody for further investigation. The car was also seized for investigation.
