Sunny, hot and festival filled weekend ahead for Netherlands

This weekend will be sunny and hot in the Netherlands - perfect weather for spending the day at the beach, going to a festival or just generally spending time outdoors. With maximums in the high twenties and low thirties, no wind and little rain expected, this weekend will have perfect summer weather, according to Weeronine.

Friday will already be nice and warm, with temperatures climbing above 25 degrees everywhere except the coastal regions. Maximums will range between 24 degrees on the coast to 28 degrees inland, with Noord-Brabant, Limgurg, the Achterhoek and Twente being the hottest. The sun will shine all day, with only a few thin clouds making an appearance.

Saturday will be the first time this month that temperatures rise above 30 degrees, in Limburg and the east of Brabant. In the rest of the country, maximums will be around 28 or 29 degrees. With plenty of sunshine, and sea water temperatures around 19 degrees, Saturday will have perfect beach weather, according to the weather service. Sunday will be even warmer with temperatures around 32 degrees expected in the south and the east. If the maximum in De Bilt climbs to 30 degrees, it will be the ninth tropical day in the Netherlands this year, placing 2019 in 5th place for the most tropical days in a year.

Looking for something other than a trip to the beach to do this weekend? The 42nd edition of Uitmarkt - the official kickoff of the Netherlands' cultural season and the largest cultural festival in the country - is in Amsterdam this weekend. With 340 performances spread over some 30 stages around Museumplein and Leidseplein and covering genres ranging from dance to cabaret to film to literature, there will definitely be something for everyone to do. More information here.

The Reggae Lake festival is also happening in Amsterdam, with Ziggy Marley being the main attraction. Other artists include alpha Blondy, Busy Signal, and Don Carlos. Tickets range from €37.95 to €69.95, depending on which days you want to attend. More info here.

Or go to Mysteryland - the oldest dance festival in the Netherlands - in Hoofddorp, with more than 300 artists performing on 17 stages for some 100 thousand attendees. The festival covers all genres within the spectrum of electronic musing, from House to Trance to Hiphop. See the full lineup here. Tickets can be found here.
