Taxi hits girl, 9, in Amsterdam, flees the scene
A 9-year-old girl was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident involving a taxi in Amsterdam on Thursday morning. The police are looking for the taxi driver.
The accident happened at the intersection of Adimaal de Ruijterweg and Jan van Galenstraat at around 9:30 a.m., the police said on Twitter. The numbers on the car's blue license plate are known to the police.
A trauma helicopter responded to the scene, according to RTL Nieuws. The girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
According to the broadcaster, the taxi also hit a cyclist shortly before hitting the little girl. The cyclist was not injured.
Over the weekend a 24-year-old woman was killed in a collision with an Uber driver in the Dutch capital. Traffic and transport alderman Sharon Dijksma said she is "very concerned" about taxis and traffic safety and is speaking with taxi organizations in Amsterdam.
