Car deliberately crashes into Lidl supermarket; motorist arrested
A motorist deliberately crashed into a Lidl supermarket in Dongen, Noord-Brabant, on Monday morning. No one was injured. The 33-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, NU.nl reports.
The man drove through a set of sliding doors at around 8:20 a.m. He then tried to crash through another set of doors, but could not go any further. So he reversed out of the store and drove off.
A number of customers were in the supermarket at the time. They were badly shaken, but no one got hurt, a spokesperson for the police said to the newspaper.
The motorist has a criminal record and the police arrested him at his home. He was under the influence of alcohol. The motive for his action is not yet known.
