Three killed, two hurt in serious traffic accident

A collision between a passenger car and a truck on the N203 between Uitgeest and Castricum left three people dead and two injured on Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened around 6:00 p.m.

All five victims were in the passenger car, according to the police. The male driver and two female passengers were killed. Two male passengers were injured and taken to hospital. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

The truck driver, from Germany, escaped unharmed. He was taken to a police station for questioning.

Emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, responded to the scene en masse, according to NU.nl. The road between Uitgeest and Castricum was closed in both directions after the accident.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
